In this article, we will talk about mining Helium (HNT) in your area. We will not go into much detail for each country in the world, but I will confirm with you which major cities and countries have helium hotspots, and which do not. So, let’s dive into it!

Which are the most popular areas for mining Helium (HNT)?

According to the Helium Network map, the most popular cities, in HNT Hotspots, in the UK are:

England
  • London
  • Manchester
  • Liverpool
  • Birmingham
  • Nottingham
  • Sheffield

Wales
  • Cardiff
  • Swansea

Scotland
  • Edinburgh
  • Glasgow

North Ireland
  • Belfast
The most popular cities for mining Helium in the USA are:
  • New York City
  • Philadelphia
  • Washington
  • Chicago
  • San Francisco
  • Houston
  • Austin

And the list goes on and on, North America is highly populated with Helium Hotspots, except Mexico and most of South America.

Canada barely has any Helium Hotspots, out of those few, most of them are within Edmonton.

While North America is very popular for mining Helium, Europe has seen a surge as well.

The largest population of HNT Hotspots is in the Netherlands ( Amsterdam ) and Belgium ( Brussels ). According to the official Helium Network map, they seem to have the most Helium hotspots.

Generally, capitals, dense urban places, have the highest amount of miners, but some smaller cities can be profitable as well.

Ukraine is one of the countries that does not have many hotspots, there are some showing up in Kyiv and Odesa.

Russia on the other hand does, barely has Hotspots showing up on the map, the absence of Hotspots in them both, Ukraine and Russia, might be due to the military conflict that is going on now.

Top countries in Europe for the Helium Network Hotspot:
  • UK
  • Netherlands
  • Belgium
  • Italy
  • Germany
  • Romania
  • Bulgaria
  • Poland

Let’s move on to Africa now. When it comes to HNT Hotspots in Africa there is not much that we can talk about, the map shows signs of miners only in South Africa, and the network is quite faint there as well, but it does show up.

Next, is the Middle East.

According to Helium's Network Explorer, there are a few countries that have hotspots such as Turkey, Syria and Israel. There are a few signs of HNT hotspots in the rest of the Middle East, but besides those three countries, there is not much to talk about.

In Asia on the other hand, we have China with the largest population of Helium miners in entire Asia. Hong Kong has the most in China. All the large cities in China have quite a big population of hotspots.
Besides China, we also have Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines with operating hotspots.

And finally, Oceania has some miners operating, present in Australia and New Zealand. Within Australia, most of the miners are Sydney and Melbourne.

So, can I mine Helium in my area?

Yes you can. Basically you can mine anywhere there is an power supply and an internet source, however that doesn't mean you are going to be profitable. If you find yourself in any of these countries and large cities, chances to have a profitable location is greater, check out Helium Network Explorer to see how much nearby hotspots earn.

If you find yourself in a very small city, make sure to check the official Helium Network map, before investing money in a Helium Miner setup.

In case you chose to invest in an HNT Miner, make sure you understand the full dynamics behind it.
